Membership Information
Welcome Guests
Non
members are welcome to attend and observe our meetings as `Guests`.
There is no participation fee if you attend as a guest. There is also
no need to make an appointment or contact anyone if you plan to attend
as a guest. Please just show up and enjoy yourself!
After you
attend three meetings as a guest, you will be given the opportunity to
have an interview with our Vice President of Membership and apply for
membership. Membership costs Yen 8000 per term (6 months) and there is
a one time entrance fee of Yen 2500.
What happens at a meeting
A meeting normally lasts for two hours and consists of the following:
A short business session,
which gives members a chance to practice parliamentary procedure, be
concise in explaining various roles, and guests a moment to very
briefly introduce themselves.
A Table Topics session,
giving members the opportunity to participate in impromptu speech
situations led by the Table Topics Master who will present about five
topics during the session.
Prepared speeches, based on projects from the Communication and Leadership manuals, from three or four Club members.
An evaluation session,
during which each speaker is provided with valuable feedback regarding
the strengths of the speech, and provided with information that will
assist the speaker in problem areas.
A critique of the evaluations, and of the meeting as a whole, by a general evaluator.
Besides speaking, each member will also have the opportunity to serve as Toastmaster of the Evening,Thought of the Evening, Joke Master, etc. Each assignment is rotated among members to provide a variety of experience.
